The TRU-MAXX 66253255857 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for bench and surface grinding operations in machine shops, tool rooms, and industrial maintenance environments. Built from aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous metals including steel and cast iron. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. It carries a 46 grit coarse grade with an I hardness rating, making it well suited for aggressive material removal where surface finish is a secondary concern. Maximum operating speed is 3,105 RPM. The semi-friable grain structure helps the wheel self-sharpen during use, maintaining cut rate across extended cycles.
This wheel fits standard surface grinders and bench grinders with a 1-1/4 inch spindle arbor. The Type 1 straight-wheel configuration is the most common format for flat surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and general-purpose offhand grinding. It is used regularly by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians for deburring, sharpening, and surface preparation of ferrous workpieces. The white aluminum oxide composition is appropriate for hardened steels and heat-sensitive alloys where wheel breakdown and heat generation must be controlled.
Designed for use on surface grinders and bench grinders equipped with a 1-1/4 inch arbor and capable of accepting an 8 inch diameter Type 1 straight grinding wheel. Confirm machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,105 RPM maximum rating before mounting.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before installation, and never operate a wheel that shows any damage. Always use the correct flange size and blotter paper as required by ANSI B11.9 safety standards, and ensure the machine guard is properly reinstalled and secured before resuming operation.
