The TRU-MAXX 66253255803 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and good form holding during wet or dry surface grinding operations. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 60-grit, medium-grade specification makes it well suited for general-purpose surface grinding where moderate material removal and a reasonably smooth finish are both required. Rated at a maximum of 3,600 RPM, this wheel is installed and operated by machinists and grinding specialists on horizontal-spindle surface grinders.
This grinding wheel fits standard surface grinder setups used in machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance departments handling ferrous workpieces. The Type 1 straight-wheel configuration mounts directly to horizontal-spindle reciprocating-table surface grinders. The aluminum oxide abrasive is appropriate for carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials. Its semi-friable grain structure promotes self-sharpening under load, reducing glazing and maintaining cut rate over the life of the wheel. The gray vitrified wheel is non-tapered and has no recess, making mounting and dressing straightforward for experienced grinder operators.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard Type 1 surface grinding wheels with a 7-inch diameter, 1/2-inch thickness, and 1-1/4-inch arbor hole on horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting this wheel geometry.
Surface grinding wheels must be installed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.22 and OSHA 1910.215 grinding safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test — a damaged wheel must not be used. Confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum marked on the wheel, and use proper flanges and blotters as required. Always dress the wheel with an appropriate dressing tool before initial use and after any wheel loading or glazing is observed.
