The TRU-MAXX 66253255792 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision flat and surface grinding applications in metalworking environments. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous metals including tool steels and hardened alloy steels. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. It is rated for a maximum speed of 3600 RPM and carries an I hardness code, indicating a relatively soft wheel that releases worn grains readily to expose fresh cutting edges. This wheel is installed and dressed by machinists and tool grinders working on surface grinders in job shop and production settings.
This grinding wheel suits horizontal and vertical spindle surface grinders used in machining shops, tool rooms, and maintenance departments. Its 60 grit size provides a balance between material removal rate and surface finish quality, making it appropriate for general-purpose surface grinding of steel and iron workpieces. The vitrified bond structure resists heat buildup and maintains wheel form under moderate grinding pressure, which is useful for consistent dimensional work across multiple passes.
Designed as a standard Type 1 replacement surface grinding wheel for horizontal spindle surface grinders accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore and a 7 inch diameter wheel.
Installation must be performed by a qualified machinist or tool grinder following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always de-energize and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the rated maximum speed of 3600 RPM. Dress the wheel with an appropriate diamond or star dresser before first use to true the face and expose fresh abrasive grain.
