The TRIPP LITE SRCAGENUT5MM is a 50-piece set of square hole cage nuts designed for use with rack enclosures and open-frame rack systems. Cage nuts are the standard fastener used to mount rack-unit equipment — servers, patch panels, power strips, and other 19-inch rack gear — securely to square-hole rack rails. Each nut threads into a square punched rail opening and accepts a standard rack mounting screw, creating a secure, removable mount point. Licensed electricians, network installers, and data center technicians install these as part of standard rack buildouts and equipment refreshes.
These cage nuts are suited for residential and commercial rack enclosure installations where square-hole rail systems are in use. They are commonly deployed during initial rack population, equipment swaps, and rail retrofits in server rooms, telecom closets, and structured cabling installations. The 50-piece quantity provides enough hardware to support multiple rack units in a single installation job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and supplemental hardware for square-hole rack enclosures and open-frame rack systems accepting standard cage nut fasteners.
Cage nuts are installed by network technicians and structured cabling professionals using a cage nut insertion tool or flat-blade screwdriver to snap each nut into the square rail opening. Power down and de-energize any active rack equipment before working inside a live enclosure. Follow applicable data center and low-voltage installation guidelines when populating rack rails. Avoid over-tightening mounting screws after cage nut installation, as this can deform the nut and compromise the mount.
