The TRERICE 872-2 is a pressure snubber designed to protect gauge mechanisms from damage caused by rapid pressure changes, spikes, and pulsations. It slows the rate at which pressure reaches the gauge by forcing the pressure medium through a porous metal core, which reduces oscillation, shock, and chattering. The result is improved gauge readability and extended service life for the instrument. Constructed from brass, the 872-2 connects via a 1/4 inch NPT fitting and is suited for a range of pressure media. Licensed technicians and instrumentation mechanics install this snubber as a protective measure on gauges in systems where pressure fluctuations are common.
The TRERICE 872-2 is used in any application where pressure spikes or pulsations may be present, including HVAC systems, compressed air lines, hydraulic circuits, and process piping. It is installed directly between the pressure gauge and the system connection point. In cases where a single snubber does not fully eliminate gauge oscillation, an additional snubber can be placed in line with the first to further dampen pulsation. This part is manufactured in the United States.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or add-on protective fitting for pressure gauges equipped with a 1/4 inch NPT inlet connection across residential and commercial system applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician, plumber, or instrumentation mechanic. Isolate and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any gauge or snubber fitting. Use appropriate thread sealant approved for the pressure medium in use. Verify that all connections are leak-free before returning the system to service.
