The TRENDNET TPE-B541 is a compact, PoE-powered Gigabit switch designed for enterprise and commercial network installations. It provides four 802.3at PoE+ ports and one 802.3bt PoE++ uplink port, allowing the unit itself to receive up to 60 watts of power over Ethernet from an upstream PSE switch or injector — no local AC power connection required. This makes it well suited for deployments where running separate power is not practical, such as ceiling-mounted access points, security camera clusters, or remote IDF closets. Network technicians and low-voltage installers are the primary trades working with this device.
The TPE-B541 fits residential and commercial network environments where a small, remotely powered switch is needed to extend PoE connectivity to endpoints. Typical installation scenarios include distributing power and data to IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, or other 802.3af/at-compliant devices from a single upstream PoE++ source port. The unit operates as an enterprise PoE device in structured cabling systems and is packaged as a single unit (sold individually).
Designed for use with 802.3bt PoE++ upstream switches or injectors capable of supplying at least 60 watts on the uplink port; downstream ports support 802.3af and 802.3at PoE-compatible end devices.
Installation is typically performed by a low-voltage network technician or structured cabling installer. Verify that the upstream PSE port is rated for 802.3bt PoE++ and can supply sufficient wattage to power both the switch and its connected devices before deployment. Follow TIA-568 cabling standards and local low-voltage codes when routing Ethernet runs to and from the unit. Do not exceed the total PoE budget across all downstream ports simultaneously without confirming the upstream source capacity.
