The TRANSITION NETWORKS TN-SFP-LX8-C51 is a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver designed for Gigabit Ethernet LX applications using coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM). This module converts electrical data signals to optical signals for transmission over single-mode or compatible fiber infrastructure. It seats into an SFP-compatible port on a switch, router, or media converter and is installed by network technicians in enterprise and industrial network environments where fiber-based connectivity is required.
This transceiver is suited for enterprise network deployments where Gigabit Ethernet connectivity must be extended over fiber. Typical installation scenarios include backbone links between network closets, structured cabling runs in commercial buildings, and uplink connections in enterprise PoE-capable switching environments. The CWDM wavelength designation allows it to operate on a specific channel within a CWDM multiplexed fiber plant, making it a fit for environments that share fiber strand capacity across multiple channels.
Designed as an OEM-style SFP transceiver for use in standard SFP-slot-equipped switches, routers, and media converters supporting Gigabit Ethernet LX operation.
SFP transceivers are installed by qualified network technicians. Power down or confirm hot-swap support on the host device before seating or removing the module. Handle fiber connectors and the transceiver optical port carefully to avoid contamination that degrades signal integrity. Follow TIA-568 and relevant data center cabling standards when integrating into structured cabling systems.
