The TRANE FLS010 is a straight hot surface ignition (HSI) flame sensor designed for use in gas furnace systems. The flame sensor monitors the burner flame and sends a signal to the control board to confirm ignition has occurred. If the sensor fails to detect a flame, the control board shuts off the gas valve as a safety measure. This part is installed by licensed HVAC technicians during routine maintenance, seasonal startup, or no-heat service calls. The FLS010 measures 12.3 inches in length and is built as a direct OEM-style replacement for Goodman furnace applications.
The FLS010 is suited for residential gas furnace installations where a straight flame sensor configuration is required. It is commonly replaced when the furnace experiences nuisance lockouts, fails to ignite after multiple attempts, or when microamp readings fall below acceptable thresholds during a flame sensor test. The straight body design fits installations where sensor access and orientation call for a non-angled configuration. This part is noted as a Goodman replacement, making it a common service item for technicians servicing Goodman-branded furnace equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flame sensor for Goodman residential gas furnace systems requiring a straight HSI sensor configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Always shut off power to the furnace and close the manual gas shutoff valve before servicing any ignition or sensing components. The flame sensor connects to the control board via a single wire and is secured to the burner bracket with a mounting screw. Handle the ceramic insulator carefully to avoid cracking, and do not allow oils or contaminants to contact the sensor rod.
