The Trane A801X120DM5SD is a single-stage, non-condensing natural gas furnace rated at 120,000 BTU/h input with 80% AFUE efficiency. Part of the RunTru by Trane RT Series, it features a constant torque ECM blower motor and a 4-way multi-positional cabinet that installs in upflow, downflow, horizontal left, or horizontal right configurations. Nominal airflow capacity is 2,000 CFM with a 9-tap control transformer motor. The 24-volt control circuit is standard. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit in residential forced-air heating systems where straightforward single-stage operation and installation flexibility are the primary requirements.
This furnace is suited for residential applications requiring a high-capacity heating solution in a compact cabinet. The multi-positional design accommodates a wide range of mechanical room layouts, attic installs, crawlspace horizontals, and basement upflow configurations. It operates on natural gas and is certified for both natural and LP gas service. Select models with a T in the 12th digit of the model number meet California low-NOx emissions requirements at less than 40 ng/J. The cabinet measures 34 inches high by 24.5 inches wide by 28.75 inches deep, fitting standard residential air handler spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style multi-positional replacement or new-installation gas furnace for residential forced-air heating systems. Compatible with standard split-system air conditioning coil configurations when properly matched by a qualified HVAC technician.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the applicable provisions of the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before beginning any service or installation work. Venting must be sized and routed per the manufacturer installation, operation, and maintenance manual and applicable local codes. Do not attempt to convert between natural gas and LP gas without a certified conversion kit and qualified service personnel.
