The Trane A5HP4018A1000 is a single-stage residential heat pump condenser rated at 18,000 BTU/h (1.5 tons) with a 14.3 SEER2 efficiency rating. Built under the RunTru by Trane product line, this outdoor unit delivers both heating and cooling from a single refrigerant circuit, eliminating the need for a separate heating system in moderate climates. The unit operates on 208/230V, single-phase, 60 Hz power and uses R-454B refrigerant. Running load amps are rated at 7.8 A with a locked rotor amp rating of 47.5 A. Licensed HVAC technicians handle installation and commissioning of this equipment.
This condenser is suited for residential split-system heat pump installations where year-round climate control is needed from one outdoor unit. Typical deployment scenarios include single-family homes, condominiums, and light residential additions. The unit is factory charged with the system refrigerant required for the outdoor unit plus ten feet of tested connecting line and the smallest rated indoor evaporative coil match. Compatible indoor air handler pairings include the A5AHC series, which supports installation in closets, utility rooms, alcoves, basements, crawlspaces, and attics. The outdoor unit is designed to operate across standard residential outdoor ambient temperature ranges.
Designed for use with matching RunTru by Trane indoor air handler units, including the A5AHC series air handlers. The outdoor condensing unit is factory matched to the smallest rated indoor evaporative coil in the system pairing. Verify equipment match using current Trane/RunTru AHRI-certified combination data before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding an EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling certification. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before beginning any service or installation work. Follow local mechanical and electrical codes, including applicable sections of the International Mechanical Code and the National Electrical Code, for disconnect sizing, circuit protection, and equipment clearances. Do not operate the unit without verifying indoor and outdoor unit compatibility and confirming proper refrigerant line sizing per manufacturer specifications.
