The Trane A5AHV006A1D30A is a variable-speed, convertible multiposition air handler designed for residential split-system cooling and heat pump applications. It pairs with a compatible outdoor condensing unit and delivers between 36,000 and 48,000 BTU/h of cooling capacity across a 3 to 5 ton range. The unit operates on 208-230 volt, single-phase, 60 Hz power and features a direct-drive ECM blower motor with variable-speed control for precise airflow management. A factory-installed TXV sized for R-454B refrigerant is included, along with an all-aluminum plate fin evaporator coil. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this unit as part of a matched system.
This air handler is suited for residential new construction and replacement installations where flexible positioning is required. The 4-way multipoise design allows installation in upflow, downflow, horizontal left, or horizontal right orientations, making it adaptable to closets, utility rooms, alcoves, basements, crawlspaces, and attics. The 23.5-inch wide cabinet is a common fit in standard residential platform or closet installations. Optional electric heater kits ranging from 4 kW to 25 kW single-phase can be field-installed to add auxiliary or emergency heat capacity. The unit meets minimum duct leakage requirements for Florida and California building codes.
Designed for use with compatible RunTru by Trane R-454B outdoor condensing units in matched split-system configurations. The A5AHV006A1D30A has been paired with the A5AC5048A1000 outdoor unit in a 4-ton, 16.0 SEER2 system configuration. Consult the outdoor unit specifications and Trane submittal data to confirm matched system ratings before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation, operation, and maintenance documentation. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before beginning any work on the air handler, refrigerant circuit, or blower assembly. The refrigerant circuit uses R-454B, which requires recovery equipment and handling procedures appropriate for A2L mildly flammable refrigerants per applicable EPA and local regulations. Field-installed electric heater kits require a separate dedicated circuit sized to NEC requirements for the selected heater capacity.
