The Trane A5AHV003A1B30A is a variable speed convertible air handler designed for residential split-system HVAC applications using R-454B refrigerant. Rated at 18,000 to 30,000 BTU/h (1.5 to 2.5 tons), it pairs an ECM variable speed blower motor with an all-aluminum plate fin indoor coil to deliver efficient, quiet airflow across a wide range of system capacities. The unit operates on 208-230/1/60 (volts/phase/Hz) and uses a 24-volt system control interface. It features a 4-way convertible poise, allowing installation in multiple orientations to suit the available space. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit as part of a split-system cooling or heat pump system.
The A5AHV003A1B30A is suited for residential installations where flexible placement is required. Its 4-way poise design supports upflow, downflow, horizontal-left, and horizontal-right configurations, making it a practical choice for closets, utility rooms, alcoves, basements, and crawlspace installations. The draw-through blower configuration with an 11-inch blower wheel moves air efficiently through the coil. This handler is compatible only with outdoor units approved for use with R-454B refrigerant and is sized to match 1.5-ton through 2.5-ton condensing units.
Designed for use with outdoor condensing units or heat pump units rated for R-454B refrigerant in the 1.5-ton to 2.5-ton range. This air handler must be connected only to an outdoor unit suitable for R-454B. Specific compatible outdoor unit pairings should be confirmed against the outdoor unit specifications and applicable system ratings before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation, operation, and maintenance documentation. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power before beginning any service or installation work. The unit must be connected exclusively to an R-454B-rated outdoor unit — do not mix refrigerant types or connect to legacy R-410A equipment. DIP switch settings on the control board determine blower speed and airflow profile; configure these before startup according to the outdoor unit tonnage and application requirements.
