The Trane A5AC5018A1000 is a single-stage residential split system air conditioner operating on R-454B refrigerant and rated at 18,000 BTU/h (1.5 ton) nominal cooling capacity. Marketed under the RunTru by Trane brand, this outdoor condensing unit delivers a 15.2 SEER2 efficiency rating and runs on a 208-230 volt, single-phase, 60 Hz electrical supply. The unit uses a scroll compressor, features an all-aluminum coil construction, and operates on a 24-volt system control circuit. It is installed by licensed HVAC technicians as the outdoor half of a split cooling system paired with a compatible indoor air handler or coil.
The A5AC5018A1000 is designed for residential applications where a 1.5-ton cooling load is appropriate. It is factory charged with the refrigerant quantity required for the outdoor condensing unit plus ten feet of tested connecting line and the smallest rated indoor evaporative coil match. Compatible indoor pairings documented in available system data include the A5AHC003A1B30A convertible air handler and the A5AHV002A1B30A variable-speed air handler, as well as the 5TXCB003AS3HC coil used in certain rated system combinations.
Documented compatible indoor units include the A5AHC003A1B30A convertible air handler and the A5AHV002A1B30A variable-speed air handler. The 5TXCB003AS3HC evaporator coil has been referenced in rated system combinations with this condensing unit. Verify AHRI-rated system matchups and regional efficiency requirements before specifying an indoor unit.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding the appropriate EPA Section 608 certification for handling A2L refrigerants, as R-454B requires specific safe-handling practices. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before making any electrical or refrigerant connections. Follow local mechanical codes and manufacturer line-set length and sizing guidelines; the factory charge is calibrated for 10 feet of connecting line, so field refrigerant charge adjustments may be required for longer runs. Refer to the current Trane installer documentation and local jurisdiction requirements for clearance, pad mounting, and electrical disconnect specifications.
