The Trane 5TXCB003AS3HC is a multi-position cased evaporator coil designed for residential split-system air conditioners and heat pumps. Rated from 18,000 to 30,000 BTU/h (1.5 to 2.5 tons), it features an all-aluminum plate-fin coil construction and a factory-installed non-bleed TXV for precise refrigerant metering. The unit is rated for R-454B refrigerant, an A2L low-GWP refrigerant now required in new residential equipment. The 17.5-inch cabinet width fits standard residential air handler and furnace applications. Licensed HVAC technicians install this coil as part of a split-system cooling or heat pump installation.
This coil is suited for residential cooling and heat pump applications where a cased, convertible evaporator coil is required. It supports upflow, downflow, and horizontal airflow configurations, allowing installation above a furnace, in a closet, or in an attic horizontal application. It is compatible with 2-speed and variable-speed outdoor condensing units and heat pump systems using R-454B refrigerant. The 17.5-inch cabinet width is sized to match standard residential duct openings in that cabinet class.
Designed for use in residential split-system air conditioner and heat pump configurations using R-454B refrigerant. Compatible with 2-speed and variable-speed outdoor condensing units and heat pump units. Consult the system matchup tables in the Trane installer documentation to confirm rated system efficiency and capacity combinations before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle A2L refrigerants per applicable local codes and EPA Section 608 requirements. Shut down power to the air handler or furnace and recover all system refrigerant before opening the refrigerant circuit. Refrigerant connections are brazed; use nitrogen purge during brazing to prevent internal oxidation. Verify airflow direction and TXV orientation match the selected installation position before startup.
