The TRANE YHD240G3RHD031K is a commercial packaged rooftop unit (RTU) combining DX cooling and gas heat in a single cabinet. Rated at 20 tons of cooling capacity, it operates on 208/230V three-phase power, making it suited for light commercial and mid-size commercial rooftop applications. The gas-electric configuration delivers both heating and cooling from one unit, reducing rooftop penetrations and simplifying service access. Licensed commercial HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors are the typical installing trades for a unit of this class and tonnage.
This RTU is intended for commercial rooftop installation where a single packaged gas-electric unit is specified. At 20 tons, it is sized for mid-range commercial spaces such as retail, office, or light industrial buildings. The 208/230V three-phase electrical supply requirement means a dedicated commercial power feed is necessary at the curb connection. The gas-pack configuration integrates the heat exchanger, burner assembly, DX cooling coil, and blower into one weatherproof cabinet mounted on a roof curb.
Designed as an OEM packaged rooftop gas-electric unit for commercial rooftop curb mounting applications rated at 20 tons with three-phase power infrastructure.
Installation must be performed by a licensed commercial HVAC contractor in compliance with applicable mechanical and electrical codes, including local amendments to ASHRAE standards and the NEC for three-phase commercial equipment. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power and shut off the gas supply before servicing any components. The unit requires a matching roof curb or a field-fabricated curb meeting the manufacturer's dimensional requirements for proper support and weatherproofing. Refrigerant work must be performed by an EPA Section 608 certified technician.
