The TOTALINE p540-4152 is a universal thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) kit rated for 1.5 to 2 ton residential air-conditioning and heat-pump systems. The balance-ported valve body regulates refrigerant flow under varying system loads, maintaining stable superheat across operating conditions. A built-in check valve accommodates reverse refrigerant flow during heat-pump operation, eliminating the need for a separate field-installed check valve. Superheat is externally adjustable, allowing technicians to match fixed-superheat OEM specifications without replacing the power element. The kit ships with four connection adapters and 35 inches of foam insulating tape, supporting a range of field installation configurations. A licensed HVAC technician performs installation.

This TXV is intended for residential split-system air conditioners and heat pumps using R-410A, R-454B, or R-32 refrigerant. The multi-refrigerant thermostatic power element makes it suitable for new installations as well as service replacements where the system refrigerant type may vary. The external equalizer design is appropriate for evaporator coils with a measurable pressure drop across the distributor. Compatible with both copper and aluminum evaporator coils. This valve is the current replacement for the P530-4152.

Installation Notes

Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Recover all system refrigerant and de-energize the unit before beginning valve replacement. Connections are ODF sweat type; use nitrogen purge during brazing to prevent internal oxidation. After installation, verify superheat setting against system manufacturer specifications before recharging.
