The TORO 311A-1 is a 1-inch plastic anti-siphon valve designed to control water flow in irrigation systems while preventing backflow contamination. Anti-siphon valves combine a shut-off valve and a backflow preventer in a single body, stopping irrigation water from siphoning back into the potable water supply. This valve is typically installed above grade at the irrigation zone header, downstream of the main supply line. Irrigation contractors and landscape professionals install this type of valve as part of residential and light commercial sprinkler system layouts.
The 311A-1 is suited for residential and light commercial irrigation zones where above-ground anti-siphon protection is required. It is installed at the start of each irrigation zone, positioned at least 6 inches above the highest sprinkler head in that zone to ensure proper backflow prevention. Its plastic construction makes it appropriate for above-grade outdoor use in direct burial-free applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for 1-inch anti-siphon valves used in residential and light commercial irrigation systems.
Install this valve above grade, positioned higher than the highest sprinkler head on the zone it controls, in accordance with local plumbing and irrigation codes. Shut off the main water supply before beginning installation or service. A licensed irrigator or plumber should verify local backflow prevention requirements, as code compliance varies by jurisdiction. Do not install this valve below grade or in a valve box where it cannot vent freely to atmosphere.
