The TOOL-FLO 572431LN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLGP2031 insert style in the GP50 manufacturer grade, it features a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, delivering improved surface hardness and wear resistance. The insert has a left-hand orientation, a cutting width of 0.79 mm (0.0310 inches), and a maximum depth of cut of 1.27 mm (0.0500 inches). It belongs to TOOL-FLO's Flo-Lock series, which is engineered for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert for tight-tolerance grooving work on steel and similar secondary workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for grooving, recessing, and light parting applications in residential shop and industrial production settings. The FLGP-2031L ISO code identifies its left-hand cutting geometry, making it the correct selection when toolholder orientation requires a left-hand approach. It is rated for use on steel workpieces and is appropriate where a positive rake angle and controlled corner radius are required for finish quality and chip evacuation. CNC machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders compatible with the FLGP2031 insert style. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert hand orientation before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or insert-clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert - do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder seat for chips or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and cutting geometry.
