The TOOL-FLO 563825PRN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG-3125R-CB geometry in manufacturer grade GP50, this double-ended insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering extended wear resistance and surface lubricity. The cutting width measures 0.125 inches (3.18 mm) with a maximum depth of cut reaching 0.18 inches (4.57 mm). A CB chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation, making this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling production turning work are the primary installers of this tooling.
This insert is used in grooving applications across general machining and stainless steel secondary operations. The right-hand orientation and clamp-style holding method make it compatible with Flo-Lock series toolholders designed for the FLG insert style and 3125 insert size. A corner radius range of 0.005 to 0.010 inches and a 3-degree lead angle provide controlled entry into the workpiece, reducing deflection and chatter during interrupted or continuous groove cuts. Typical applications include O-ring groove profiles, undercut preparation, and snap-ring groove machining on turned components.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamping toolholders accepting FLG style inserts in size 3125. ISO code FLG-3125R-CB. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamp type before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling or indexing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder before initiating a cut.
