The TOOL-FLO 563678RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG3078 insert style in the Flo-Lock series, it features a TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating applied via PVD process, a GP50 manufacturer grade, and a right-hand cutting orientation. The cutting width measures 1.98 mm (0.0780 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 3.05 mm (0.1200 inches), making it well suited for tight, controlled groove profiles in ferrous and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for use in metal cutting applications where consistent groove geometry and tool life are critical. The Flo-Lock series is engineered for secure clamping in compatible TOOL-FLO grooving toolholders. Typical applications include external grooving on carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel components in production machining environments. The positive rake angle of 55 degrees and 3-degree lead angle support clean chip flow and reduced cutting forces. A corner radius range of 0.0050 to 0.0100 inches provides a slight radius at the groove corner for improved surface finish and edge strength.
Designed for use in TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting FLG-style inserts in size 3078. Compatible workpiece materials include steel and stainless steel. Material grades C5 and C6 are applicable. Refer to the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholder selection guide to confirm holder compatibility before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Flo-Lock clamp pocket and verify secure clamping before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification, as doing so may cause insert fracture or workpiece damage.
