The TOOL-FLO 563662RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Finished with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating and manufactured to the AC3 grade, this insert delivers thermal and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. It carries a 0.062-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.12 inches, making it suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles. The Flo-Lock clamping system holds the insert securely during interrupted cuts and high-feed passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning applications are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in external and face grooving applications on materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. The right-hand cutting orientation and neutral rake geometry suit standard turning setups. The double-end design extends usable insert life by providing two cutting edges per insert. It fits toolholders compatible with the Flo-Lock FLG series, insert seat size 3, and ISO code FLG-3062R. Typical applications include groove turning, parting-adjacent operations, and undercut profiles in both short-run and production-volume environments.
Compatible with Flo-Lock series FLG toolholders using insert seat size 3. ISO designation FLG-3062R. Suitable for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. Refer to the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholder selection guide to confirm holder compatibility before ordering.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the Flo-Lock clamp screw and verify the insert is fully seated before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain geometric accuracy. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for torque and clamping procedure.
