The TOOL-FLO 562694RJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precise external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG2094 insert style in the Flo-Lock series, it features a TiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering a hard, low-friction surface that extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous machining. The insert provides a cutting width of 0.094 inches (2.39 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1098 inches (2.79 mm). The right-hand orientation and positive rake angle of 55 degrees support clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in production turning environments. Machining professionals and tooling specialists install this insert in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in medium to light stock removal applications. The GP3 grade micrograin carbide substrate provides a balance of wear resistance and toughness appropriate for interrupted cuts and consistent groove profiles. The 3-degree lead angle and positive rake geometry make it well matched to turning operations where surface finish and dimensional accuracy in the groove are priorities. It is used in job shops and production facilities running CNC turning equipment.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLG2094 insert style. ISO code FLG-2094R. MSC/Manufacturer Number: FLG-2094R/L. Gage diameter is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). Confirm toolholder compatibility with the FLG insert style and 2094 size code before ordering.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered off and in a locked-out state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely - do not overtighten or use non-specified fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify cutting parameters against the GP3 grade recommendations for the workpiece material before running the first pass.
