The TITAN USA TT75604 is a straight flute hand tap designed for cutting 1-8 UNC internal threads in through-hole and open-application setups. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap delivers enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It features four flutes, a taper chamfer for easy thread starting, and an H4 thread limit for controlled fit tolerances. With an overall length of 5.125 inches and a 2.5-inch thread length, it is suited for tapping larger-diameter fastener holes in production and maintenance machining environments. Right-hand thread direction. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This tap is intended for right-hand 1-8 UNC thread applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a standard hand tap is specified. The taper chamfer distributes cutting load gradually, making it appropriate for starting threads in drilled holes without a guide tap. The 2B and 3B class of fit coverage makes it versatile across general-purpose and close-tolerance fastener assemblies. Series 729 from TITAN USA. Typical use cases include fabrication shops, MRO operations, and machine shops requiring a reliable replacement or stocked tap for 1-inch coarse-thread work.
Designed as a standard hand tap for 1-8 UNC right-hand threaded applications. Compatible with manual tap wrenches and machine tapping setups that accept the specified shank diameter of 0.8 inches and square drive of 0.6 inches.
This tap is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a standard tap wrench or tapping attachment. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill size for 1-8 UNC before starting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Never force a tap against resistance — back off periodically to break chips and prevent tap breakage.
