The TITAN USA TC79231 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Sized to wire gauge 31 (0.1200 inches decimal), it features an ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and friction at the cutting edge. The 118-degree standard point angle provides reliable center-finding and clean entry in a wide range of workpiece materials. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders with a straight cylindrical shank. It is used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals who need consistent, repeatable hole quality in hard metals.
The TC79231 is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its 2-flute regular spiral geometry and 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio handle chip evacuation effectively in deep-hole passes up to 1.25 inches. The straight cylindrical shank with zero flats seats securely in collets and drill chucks on manual mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. General-purpose grade construction makes it a practical stock item for shops running mixed-material production or maintenance drilling.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks, ER collets, and CNC toolholders accepting a 0.1200-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, manual mills, and CNC machining centers targeting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with proper speeds and feeds for solid carbide tooling in the target workpiece material. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is clean and properly torqued before operation, and confirm the machine spindle is stopped and locked out before loading or removing the bit. Solid carbide is more brittle than high-speed steel and should not be used in setups with excessive runout or lateral load. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium.
