The TITAN USA TC79205 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in professional shop and field environments. It carries a No. 5 wire-gauge designation with a decimal diameter of 0.2055 inches and an overall length of 3 inches. The 118-degree split point reduces walking and decreases thrust requirements at entry. An ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting abrasive and high-strength materials. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips efficiently. This bit is sized and constructed for use by machinists, tool-and-die techs, and maintenance professionals who drill steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium regularly.
The TC79205 is suited to general-purpose production drilling in ferrous metals and difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium. Its 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 1.75 inches in a single pass without pecking cycles under typical conditions. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.2055 inches diameter fits standard three-jaw drill chucks on CNC machining centers, knee mills, drill presses, and handheld power tools. It performs well in applications where high cutting temperatures and abrasive chips would rapidly degrade high-speed steel tooling.
Designed as a direct-use jobber drill for any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.2055-inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as indicated by workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S.
Install and tighten securely in a properly sized drill chuck before initiating spindle rotation. Solid carbide is brittle compared to HSS tooling and is susceptible to chipping from lateral shock or side loading, so ensure the workpiece is rigidly fixtured before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant where machine setup allows to extend tool life, noting this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines when operating drilling equipment.
