The TITAN USA TC73950 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, alloy steel, inconel, and cast iron. It features a 1/2 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, 4 right-hand helical flutes, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that supports elevated cutting temperatures without sacrificing edge integrity. The stub-length geometry with a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length provides rigidity in applications where deflection is a concern. This tool handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance work in hard or abrasive metals is required. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard toolholders. Its stub length and medium helix make it a practical choice for aerospace, defense, and precision manufacturing shops working with nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and austenitic stainless steels. The corner radius geometry reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish at part corners compared to a sharp-corner end mill.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch cylindrical shank. Intended for milling superalloys, titanium alloys, inconel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder collet or chuck to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear on carbide tooling. Do not exceed the tool diameter tolerance range of -0.002 to 0.000 inches when specifying fits or expecting finished dimensions.
