The TITAN USA TC73948 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.5 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius, and four helical flutes with a 30-degree helix angle. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides elevated hardness and thermal resistance, making this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing operations. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Machined to tight tolerances, the tool carries a mill diameter tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0000 inches and a corner radius tolerance of -0.0010 to 0.0010 inches.
This end mill is engineered for cutting superalloys, titanium alloys, Inconel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It is well-suited for mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and precision part manufacturing where edge integrity and consistent corner geometry are critical. The stub-length configuration and 5/8 inch length of cut support rigidity in tight-clearance setups. It mounts in a standard toolholder with a straight-cylindrical shank and is intended for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include superalloys, titanium alloys, Inconel, stainless steel, alloy steel, ferrous metals, and cast iron. Corresponds to UNSPSC code 27112803.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder collet or chuck per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, particularly when cutting hard or abrasive materials such as Inconel or titanium alloys.
