The TITAN USA TC73940 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and exotic materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four right-hand helical flutes with a medium 30-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when machining abrasive workpiece materials. The stub-length geometry with a 5/8 inch length of cut offers rigidity in tight setups. Single-end, straight-cylindrical shank construction makes it compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on superalloys, titanium alloys, Inconel, stainless steel, cast iron, and alloy steel. It is a go-to choice for machinists running tight-tolerance work on aerospace components, medical parts, and precision industrial hardware where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations at slot and pocket corners. The centercutting-capable design allows plunge entry, though the input data notes centercutting as not applicable for this specific configuration. Normal pitch flute spacing provides consistent chip evacuation during full-depth passes.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include superalloys, titanium alloy, Inconel, stainless steel, cast iron, and alloy steel. Material codes S, M, and K per ISO classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification before operation. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material, as solid carbide tooling is brittle under shock loading from interrupted cuts.
