The TITAN USA TC61728 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 45-degree high helix angle. The cutting end is a single-end corner radius geometry with a stub-length flute configuration. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators working in job shop, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
The TC61728 is suited for both roughing and finishing operations in ferrous metals, stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys, and Inconel. Its high helix angle and AlTiN coating make it particularly effective in superalloys and stainless steel, where heat generation and tool wear are primary concerns. The stub-length design adds rigidity, reducing deflection in tight-tolerance cuts. It is intended for use with standard straight-shank toolholders and is compatible with typical CNC machining center setups requiring a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed for use with straight-shank cylindrical toolholders accepting a 7/16 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece material categories include superalloys and titanium (material code S), stainless steel (material code M), and cast iron (material code K), as well as ferrous metals, alloy steel, and Inconel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with end mill toolholder runout requirements and proper clamping torque for the specific toolholder type in use. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool. Verify shank engagement depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum before beginning any cut. Observe the Shank Diameter Tolerance of h6 when selecting a collet or toolholder to ensure proper fit and minimize runout.
