The TITAN USA TC61720 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including superalloys, titanium alloys, stainless steel, and cast iron. The tool features a 5/16-inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter with a 0.0200-inch corner radius and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 45-degree high helix angle. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during aggressive cuts. The stub-length geometry and 0.5000-inch reach length keep the tool rigid during both roughing and finishing operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling superalloys, Inconel, titanium alloy, stainless steel, alloy steel, ferrous metal, and cast iron. Its single-end, centercutting-capable corner radius profile generates a controlled edge radius that reduces stress concentrations in milled slots, pockets, and contour passes. The stub-length classification keeps deflection low when working in harder, more abrasive workpiece materials where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. It mounts to standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with a 5/16-inch shank diameter.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/16-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include superalloys, titanium alloy, Inconel, stainless steel, alloy steel, ferrous metal, and cast iron.
Installation is performed by machinists using a compatible straight-cylindrical toolholder; ensure the shank is fully seated and the holder is properly torqued per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use, especially after work in abrasive materials. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed per tooth for the target workpiece material.
