The TITAN USA TC28812 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate center points and chamfers before full drilling operations. Built to Series 288 specifications, it features a 120-degree point angle and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter and matching 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 2 inches overall length with a 3/8 inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for precision spotting work in machine shops and production environments.
This spotting drill is used in metalworking and machining applications where accurate hole location and consistent countersink geometry are required before twist drilling or boring. It is well suited for CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and drill presses running general-purpose work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cut spiral flute geometry promotes clean chip evacuation and helps maintain positional accuracy across repeated operations.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose spotting drill compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to the appropriate runout tolerance before operation. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully stopped before tool changes. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed recommendations appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter.
