The TITAN USA SD91449 is a reduced shank twist drill bit machined from high-speed steel (HSS) for drilling through steel, cast iron, aluminum, wood, and similar materials. It features a 49/64 inch (0.7656 inch) cutting diameter paired with a 1/2 inch reduced shank, allowing it to chuck into standard 1/2 inch drill chucks and drill presses without requiring a larger chuck capacity. The 118-degree split-point angle is a general-purpose geometry suited for a wide range of materials. With a bright, uncoated finish and a 2-flute spiral design, the bit clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. It belongs to the Series 625 product line and weighs 0.43 pounds.
This drill bit is intended for use in machine shops, fabrication environments, maintenance and repair operations, and field work where a 49/64 inch hole is required but only a 1/2 inch chuck is available. The reduced shank design is the defining feature here — it bridges the gap between large-diameter cutting geometry and widely available 1/2 inch tooling. Typical applications include drilling pilot and clearance holes in structural steel, pipe flanges, equipment frames, and sheet metal assemblies. It is sold individually as a single-piece unit.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stocking drill bit for use in any 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chuck, drill press, or milling machine spindle accepting reduced shank tooling.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, maintenance technicians, fabricators, and general tradespeople using a drill press, hand drill, or milling machine with a 1/2 inch chuck. Secure the reduced shank fully in the chuck jaws before operation and verify concentricity before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hardened steel or stainless to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling.
