The TITAN USA SD91443 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for drilling precise holes in metal, wood, and plastic. The bit features a 43/64 inch (0.6719 inch decimal) cutting diameter paired with a 1/2 inch reduced shank, allowing it to fit standard 1/2 inch drill chucks while cutting a larger bore diameter. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS), the bit handles moderate heat buildup during drilling without losing edge hardness. The 118-degree split or conventional point angle is a general-purpose geometry suited to a wide range of materials. A bright, uncoated finish keeps material cost low on a bit intended for general shop and field use.
This drill bit is well suited for plumbers, HVAC installers, electricians, and general contractors who need to bore larger through-holes in structural members, sheet metal, or framing. The reduced shank design solves a common field problem: running a sub-1-inch large-diameter bit through a standard 1/2 inch keyless or keyed chuck without stepping up to a larger drill or right-angle attachment. Typical applications include boring holes for pipe and conduit pass-throughs, anchor bolt clearances, and fixture mounting in both residential and light commercial work.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with any 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chuck. The reduced shank allows use in standard drills and drill presses without requiring a larger chuck capacity.
A licensed tradesperson or qualified installer should secure the bit fully into the chuck before operation and verify the chuck is properly tightened to prevent bit slippage under load. When drilling metal, use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable OSHA hand and power tool safety requirements for the job site.
