The TITAN USA CD60708 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. It measures 1/8 inch (0.1250 inches) in diameter with a 2-3/4 inch overall length and features a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts with reduced walking. The ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. This bit is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools across production and maintenance environments.
The CD60708 is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. These are among the most abrasive and work-hardening materials encountered in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance repair operations. The cobalt substrate withstands heat buildup that would degrade standard high-speed steel bits, making it appropriate for applications where cutting speeds and feed rates are pushed. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians typically select this series for production runs and repetitive hole patterns in hard metals where bit longevity is a priority.
Designed for use in any standard chuck accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials per Series CD60 application ratings.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm concentricity before beginning a cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid manually at the drill point when working stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat. Set spindle speed and feed rate according to standard machining data for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, as cobalt bits can chip rather than dull gradually when pushed past their limits.
