The TITAN USA CD50308 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. It carries a Letter H designation, equivalent to 0.2660 inches (17/64 inch) diameter, and features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and minimizes the need for a center punch. The oxide and TiN coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance. With a 2-flute right-hand spiral and a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard drill chucks without adapters. It is suited for shops, maintenance crews, and fabrication trades that regularly work through hard or abrasive materials.
This bit is engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — materials that generate high heat and work-harden quickly under poorly suited tooling. The cobalt steel construction handles elevated cutting temperatures that would degrade standard high-speed steel bits. The regular spiral and 11xD flute-to-diameter ratio support chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling scenarios. Typical applications include pipe fitting, structural fabrication, aerospace component work, and maintenance drilling in corrosion-resistant alloys. Coolant-through is not supported, so external coolant or cutting oil application at the point is standard practice for these materials.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a 17/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including bench drill presses, portable electric drills, and CNC drilling setups running Letter H tooling in the CD50 series.
A licensed machinist, tool-and-die technician, or qualified maintenance professional should select feed rate and speed appropriate for the workpiece material before use. Power down and de-energize the drill press or machine spindle completely before changing or securing the bit in the chuck. Apply cutting oil or external coolant directly to the drill point when working stainless steel or superalloys to manage heat and prevent work hardening. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged split point significantly increases heat and reduces hole quality.
