The TITAN USA CD50243 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 43 (0.0890 inches), designed for drilling hard and abrasive materials in demanding shop and field applications. Built from cobalt steel with an oxide finish, this bit handles elevated cutting temperatures without losing hardness at the edge. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust force needed to start a hole, making it well suited for hand drilling and drill-press work on tough substrates. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix clear chips efficiently throughout the 1.25-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.0890 inches in diameter) fits standard three-jaw chucks without adapters.
This bit is specified for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — materials that work-harden quickly and destroy standard HSS tooling. It fits production and maintenance scenarios where a small-diameter, high-performance bit is needed in tight clearances or for pilot holes in hard plate. Machinist or fabricator installation. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a calibrated three-jaw chuck before use and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the diameter. When drilling stainless steel or superalloys, use a low RPM and consistent feed pressure to avoid work hardening the bore wall. Never force a dull bit — cobalt bits can be resharpened, but operating with a degraded edge on hard materials risks bit breakage and workpiece damage.
