The TITAN USA CD50238 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 39, equivalent to 0.1015 inches in diameter. It features a 135-degree split-point geometry that self-centers on contact, reducing walking and the need for a center punch. The oxide and gold coating improves lubricity and heat resistance during high-friction cuts. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a spiral flute length of 1.4375 inches, this bit is proportioned for standard jobber-length drilling operations. It is suited for machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians who need a reliable small-diameter bit for hard materials.
The CD50238 is designed primarily for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece materials that demand a cobalt substrate for adequate heat and wear resistance. The right-hand spiral flute, regular helix, and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks, CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills. It is a solid choice for aerospace, industrial maintenance, and fabrication shops where M and S material-group cutting is routine. The 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes without excessive chip packing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard drill bit for use in any drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1015-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material groups are M (stainless steel) and S (superalloys and titanium) per standard material classification.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill chuck, drill press, or CNC spindle. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling stainless steel or superalloys to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged split point will produce oversized or out-of-round holes.
