The TITAN USA CD40615 is a Letter E jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a standard 118-degree point angle. At 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch) in diameter and 3.875 inches overall length, it delivers accurate, consistent holes in a compact jobber format suited for bench-top drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the steel at its natural hardness and is well-suited for low-heat, lower-speed applications. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips efficiently across the full 2.625-inch flute length. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, electricians, and HVAC service techs who need a dependable fractional-letter-size drill for general-purpose hole-making will find this a straightforward, no-frills option.
The CD40615 is designed for drilling non-ferrous metals including aluminum, copper, brass, and similar soft metallic workpieces. Its right-hand cutting direction and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks and quick-change holders. The 11xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 2.625-inch maximum drilling depth support through-hole and moderate-depth operations in sheet stock and light structural material. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid or dry drilling practices apply based on the material and feed rate.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks and quick-change chuck systems that accept straight cylindrical shanks in the 15/64 inch diameter range. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle fully de-energized and at a complete stop. Secure the straight cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck and confirm there is no runout before beginning a cut. No coolant-through path is present in this bit, so apply external cutting fluid at the drill point when working with materials that require lubrication to prevent galling or work hardening. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before drilling.
