The TITAN USA CD40314 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit sized to letter N (0.302 inches diameter) with a standard 118-degree split-point geometry and a black oxide coating. It is designed for general-purpose drilling operations in production and maintenance environments. The two-flute spiral design promotes chip evacuation, while the straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. At 4.375 inches overall length with a 3.0625-inch flute length, this bit fits the depth requirements of most jobber-length drilling tasks. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians commonly specify this size for clearance holes, through-holes, and pilot operations on steel and other metals.
The CD40314 is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It performs in manual drill press, hand drill, and CNC drilling applications where a right-hand, regular-spiral jobber bit is the standard call-out. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 3-1/16-inch maximum drilling depth make it well suited for through-hole work in plate stock, structural shapes, and machined components across light industrial and field service settings.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.302-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).
Install in a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle with a properly sized chuck rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before starting the cut to prevent bit deflection or workpiece movement. Apply a cutting fluid or mist lubricant when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or superalloys to extend bit life and manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or dulling is evident, as a worn bit increases thrust load and can work-harden stainless steel or titanium workpieces.
