The TITAN USA CD40214 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 14, ground from high speed steel and finished with a black oxide coating. It measures 0.1820 inches in diameter with an overall length of 3.375 inches and a spiral flute length of 2.1875 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle is suited for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks. Two right-hand spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. This bit belongs to the TITAN USA Series CD40 jobber drill line and is a single-piece unit intended for production and maintenance drilling by machinists, fabricators, and general trade technicians.
The CD40214 is used in shop and field drilling applications where a wire-gauge drill is required for tapping prep, clearance holes, or precision through-holes. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium, it covers a broad range of workpiece materials common in metal fabrication, HVAC equipment assembly, and mechanical service work. Maximum drilling depth matches the flute length at 2.1875 inches. No coolant-through capability is present, so cutting fluid should be applied externally when drilling harder alloys or stainless steel.
Designed as a standard wire-gauge jobber drill for use in any three-jaw drill chuck or collet system accepting a 0.1820-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Fits within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill bit size range of the CD40 series.
Installation is performed by machinists and trade technicians using a drill press, hand drill, or milling machine. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Apply cutting fluid externally when working stainless steel, cast iron, or titanium-based superalloys to extend tool life and prevent work hardening. Replace the bit if the point shows chipping or the cutting edges are dull, as a worn point increases heat and can cause hole diameter to drift outside tolerance.
