The TITAN USA CD40028 is a 7/16-inch diameter jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a black oxide coating, it delivers consistent performance across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys. The 118-degree standard point angle suits most production and maintenance drilling applications. With an overall length of 5.5 inches and a flute length of 4.0625 inches, this bit provides the reach typical of jobber-series tooling. It is used by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians for structural and sheet-metal hole-making tasks.
The CD40028 belongs to the CD40 series and is suited for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium alloys. Its right-hand spiral flute geometry and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and drill presses used in fabrication shops, job sites, and field service environments. The 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance during through-hole operations. This bit is a practical stock item for trade professionals who need a reliable, single-piece drill bit for everyday drilling tasks.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use with any drill press, hand drill, or drill driver equipped with a chuck accepting a 7/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S, covering carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify it is centered before starting the cut. Power down and de-energize or lock out any drill press before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or superalloys to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery and should not be used in applications requiring internal coolant feed.
