The TITAN USA CD32721 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit sized at Letter U (0.3680 inches decimal equivalent) with a 135-degree split point. Screw machine length bits are shorter than jobber-length bits, making them well suited for work in confined spaces or on rigid setups where chatter and deflection must be minimized. The 135-degree split point self-centers on contact, reducing the need for a center-punch on most metals. Cobalt construction gives the cutting edges heat resistance and hardness retention when drilling tough ferrous alloys, hardened steels, and stainless steel. This is a right-hand, spiral-flute bit with a straight cylindrical shank and meets NAS 907 Type J specification.
This bit is used in production drilling, maintenance, and fabrication environments where repeatable hole quality in hard or abrasive materials is required. Machinists, tool and die workers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics commonly use screw machine length cobalt bits when working with stainless steel, high-strength alloys, cast iron, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The shorter overall length of 3.125 inches provides rigidity and reduces runout in drill presses, lathes, and CNC setups. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both shop and field use.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks; fits drill presses, lathes, hand-held drills, and CNC machining centers set up for screw machine length tooling in the Letter U size range.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or qualified trade professionals familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the drill chuck is tightened properly to prevent slippage. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant is recommended when drilling hard ferrous alloys to extend tool life, even though this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
