The TITAN USA CD32531 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in tough materials including stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and other hard alloys. Built to NAS 907 Type J specification, this bit features a 135-degree split point for fast self-centering starts without a center punch. At 31/64 inches (0.4844 inches decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 3-11/16 inches, the stub-length body provides added rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length bits. The spiral flute geometry clears chips efficiently, and the bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating compatibility is a concern. HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing contractors reach for this bit when drilling through structural steel, angle iron, or heavy-gauge sheet metal on the job site.
This bit is suited for use in hand-held drill motors, drill presses, and CNC machining centers where a straight cylindrical shank is accepted. The screw machine length profile makes it ideal in confined spaces and tight clearance installations common in mechanical rooms, equipment pads, and panel rough-ins. The heavy-duty cobalt construction handles the elevated heat generated during continuous drilling cycles without losing temper, making it a practical choice for production drilling or repetitive hole patterns in ferrous metals.
Designed for use in any drill chuck or collet accepting a straight cylindrical shank at 31/64 inches diameter; fits standard 3-jaw chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment within the 0.4500 to 0.5000 inch drill bit size range of the Series 325 family.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or oil when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and control heat buildup. Inspection of the split point for chipping or wear before each use is recommended, particularly after drilling abrasive or hardened materials. Disposal of metal chips and used cutting fluids should follow applicable shop safety and environmental regulations.
