The THOMAS BETTS X289 is a 90-degree strut fitting designed for use with metal framing channel and strut systems. Fabricated from steel with a gold galvanized finish, this fitting provides a right-angle connection point in strut framework assemblies. It is used by electricians, mechanical contractors, and plumbers to build and extend unistrut-style support systems for conduit, pipe, ductwork, and equipment. The gold galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance suited to both indoor and light-duty commercial environments.
This fitting is used wherever a 90-degree directional change or corner connection is needed in a metal framing channel layout. Typical applications include support grids for electrical conduit runs, plumbing pipe hangers, and mechanical equipment mounting in commercial and industrial construction. It is sold individually and installs directly onto standard metal framing channel or strut without additional hardware beyond standard strut nuts and bolts.
Designed for use with standard metal framing channel and strut. Cross-references to Unistrut part number P1728 and B-Line part number B6118.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or mechanical contractors working under NEC or applicable mechanical codes. De-energize any nearby electrical systems before working in panel or conduit support areas. Secure the fitting using standard strut nuts, bolts, and washers rated for the load being supported. Do not exceed the load ratings of the strut channel or fittings in the assembly.
