The THOMAS BETTS UNF 205-TB is a steel conduit female union designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems. It features a threaded connection and straight connector shape, allowing two conduit runs to be joined end-to-end without rotating either section. The fitting is non-insulated and constructed from steel for durability in demanding environments. Licensed electricians and conduit installation crews install this type of union during initial conduit layout or when servicing existing runs that require a break point for future maintenance access.
This female union is suited for both hazardous location and non-hazardous location applications, making it appropriate for industrial facilities, commercial construction, and infrastructure projects where rigid or IMC conduit is the specified raceway system. Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits in the conduit run and verify the system is locked out and tagged out before disassembling or modifying any conduit section. Apply appropriate thread lubricant or thread sealant to conduit threads before making up connections, and tighten using a conduit wrench to achieve a secure mechanical joint. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as this can damage threads and compromise the connection.
