The THOMAS BETTS TY548M is a nylon identification flag marker cable tie designed for bundling and labeling wire harnesses, conduit runs, and cable assemblies in electrical and low-voltage installations. At 14.2 inches in overall length with a 50 lb tensile strength, it provides secure bundle management for diameters up to 4 inches. The natural-color nylon construction is weather-resistant, rated for continuous service from -40 degrees F to 185 degrees F, making it suitable for both indoor panels and outdoor or industrial enclosure applications. Each package contains 100 ties. Licensed electricians and wire harness technicians are the primary installers.
The TY548M is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work where cable identification is required alongside bundling. The flag tab provides a writable surface for circuit labeling, asset tagging, or wire identification at termination points. Typical applications include panel wiring, tray and conduit fill labeling, equipment interconnects, and data or low-voltage cable management. The weather-resistant rating supports installations in damp or outdoor-rated enclosures and conduit bodies.
Designed as an OEM-style cable tie for standard one-piece self-locking applications requiring integrated flag identification in electrical, data, and low-voltage wiring installations.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified low-voltage technicians. De-energize all circuits before dressing or bundling conductors in live panels or enclosures, in accordance with NFPA 70E lockout/tagout requirements. Use a cable tie tensioning tool to achieve consistent pull force without over-stressing the locking head. Trim excess tail flush to the locking head to prevent sharp edges on finished bundles.
