The THOMAS BETTS TK224SC is a set screw conduit coupling designed for use with electrical metallic tubing (EMT). It joins two sections of EMT conduit with a secure set screw connection, maintaining electrical continuity through the raceway system. Constructed from die cast zinc, this coupling is rated for concrete tight applications, making it suitable for installations where the fitting may be encased or embedded. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of fitting during rough-in wiring on commercial and residential projects. The 1-1/4 inch trade size suits medium-diameter EMT runs commonly found in branch circuit and feeder installations.
This coupling is used in EMT conduit systems in both residential and commercial electrical installations. It is well suited for exposed conduit runs, embedded slab work, and other applications requiring a concrete tight fitting. The set screw design allows for fast field installation without special tooling beyond a standard screwdriver or hex key. It is sold as a single unit and is appropriate wherever a 1-1/4 inch EMT coupling is called for on the job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard coupling for 1-1/4 inch EMT conduit systems in residential and commercial electrical installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize all circuits in the affected raceway before beginning conduit work. Ensure conduit ends are reamed and free of burrs before inserting into the coupling to prevent conductor insulation damage. Tighten set screws to the fitting manufacturer's recommended engagement using an appropriate screwdriver or hex key.
