The THOMAS BETTS TK217SC is a compression-style conduit coupling designed for use with electrical metallic tubing (EMT). It creates a concrete-tight mechanical connection between two lengths of EMT conduit without the need for set screws, relying instead on a compression fitting design that delivers a secure, low-resistance bond. Constructed from die cast zinc, this coupling is non-insulated and rated for concrete-tight applications. It is sized for 2-1/2 inch trade size EMT and is sold as a single unit. Electricians and conduit installers specify this type of fitting where a reliable, concrete-tight joint is required in metallic conduit runs.
This coupling is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where EMT conduit is routed through or encased in concrete, or where a concrete-tight fitting is required by the authority having jurisdiction. The compression connection eliminates the risk of set screw loosening over time and provides a consistent mechanical and electrical bond across the conduit joint. Typical install scenarios include slab penetrations, exposed conduit runs in commercial construction, and anywhere the NEC or local code mandates concrete-tight conduit fittings for EMT systems.
Designed as an OEM-style compression coupling for 2-1/2 inch trade size electrical metallic tubing (EMT) conduit systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits in the conduit run before beginning work. Compression fittings require the correct compression tool or wrench to properly seat the fitting — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the die cast body. Verify the trade size of the existing EMT before installation to confirm proper fit.
