The THOMAS BETTS RB14-38 is a partially insulated, D-shaped ring terminal designed for crimp connections on copper conductors ranging from 18 to 14 AWG. The terminal body measures 1.17 inches long and 0.53 inches wide, with a 3/8-inch stud hole for secure mechanical attachment to bus bars, lugs, and terminal blocks. The copper contact is plated with TiN (titanium nitride) for improved corrosion resistance and contact reliability. A blue nylon insulation sleeve provides partial coverage for basic wire protection and color-coded identification. Electricians and panel technicians install these terminals using a ratcheting crimp tool sized for insulated terminals in the 18-to-14 AWG range. This package contains 100 terminals.
The RB14-38 is suited for low-voltage control wiring, panel terminations, and equipment grounding connections in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work. The 3/8-inch stud size accommodates standard ground lugs and terminal stud assemblies commonly found in control panels, motor starters, and disconnect boxes. The partially insulated design leaves the barrel exposed for inspection of the crimp after installation.
Designed for use with 18 to 14 AWG copper conductors and 3/8-inch terminal studs. Suitable as an OEM-style crimp ring terminal in control wiring and panel termination applications where partially insulated terminals are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 110 termination requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating any conductors. Use a calibrated ratcheting crimp tool rated for insulated ring terminals in the 18-to-14 AWG range to ensure a full, inspectable crimp. Do not solder over a crimped connection, as this can introduce brittleness at the barrel transition.
