The THOMAS BETTS PT70M is a non-insulated, one-piece crimp-on wire joint designed to terminate and group copper conductors running in a single direction. Constructed from copper-plated steel with a nylon insulation material, this connector accepts wire sizes from 18 AWG to 12 AWG. It carries a voltage rating of 600 volts for standard applications and 1000 volts for fixture and sign wiring, with a temperature rating of 105 degrees C. The PT70M is sold in a standard package of 200 pieces, making it a practical stock item for panel shops, fixture installers, and sign fabricators.
This wire joint is suited for residential and commercial electrical wiring applications where multiple conductors must be terminated at a common point in one direction. Typical uses include fixture wiring, sign wiring, and control panel assembly. The connector accommodates a minimum wire combination of three 18 AWG conductors and a maximum combination of four 12 AWG conductors, covering a wide range of bundling scenarios encountered in day-to-day electrical work. Licensed electricians and panel technicians are the primary installers of this type of connector.
Designed as an OEM-style crimp connector for copper conductor applications ranging from 18 AWG to 12 AWG, suitable for fixture, sign, and general low-voltage wiring assemblies where non-insulated crimp terminations are required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits completely before making or modifying terminations. Use a properly calibrated ratchet crimp tool rated for the connector series to ensure a gas-tight connection. Do not apply this connector to aluminum conductors, as it is rated for copper wire only.
